As of September 1, 2005, Fire Chief John Lattanzi became the Public Safety Director nominated by Clairton City Council. In this position he will oversee both the Clairton Police and Fire Departments.
Fire Chief John Lattanzi was recently appointed by Governor Ed Rendell to head the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management for the City of Clairton. In association with the Federal Government to provide services at the local level to ensure the safety of the community in the case of any natural or unnatural disaster. This department is dedicated to protecting the citizens of Clairton from any acts of terrorism.
