About the Engineering Department:

The Engineering Department is staffed with a full time Certified Engineer and an Engineering Assistant who design, plan, inspect and maintain all major projects approved by City Council. Some other matters they are involved with includes contract bidding, road paving, reconstruction and improvements to playgrounds, recreation areas and sewers. The City of Clairton Engineers also work hard to get city projects funded through Community Development Block Grants in association with The Steel Valley Council of Government and the Federal Government. However their major focus is the maintenance of Sanitary and Storm Sewers. Sanitary Sewers assist in the removal of waste. Storm Sewers remove the run off from rain water. The Engineering  Department along with the Public Works Department assist in dealing with sewer problems such as:

• Decay
• Debris
• Construction Problems
